An uncontrollable urge to eat some particular food item (some time nonfood items) during pregnancy is called a pregnancy craving. The cravings generally arise for unusual foods, and are often triggered by hormones are playing around in the blood stream. Just like food cravings, food aversions are also equally common.
Studies have shown that the high hormone levels during pregnancy can alter a woman’s sense of taste and smell, which explains why certain foods and odours can not only be more enticing and in some cases more offensive.
